What Happens After You Send the Form
The form asks three short sets of questions: the type of business, a few details, and how to reach you. No financial statements, no tax returns, nothing you'd need to dig out of a file cabinet.
We pass your request to our brokerage partner. A broker looks at what you sent and calls at the time you picked. That first call is about your goals, your timing and the rough shape of the business.
If it makes sense, the broker asks for more information and comes back with an estimate of what buyers would likely pay.
Does This Cost Me Anything?
No. The estimate and the first conversations are free, and asking doesn't commit you to anything.
If you later decide to sell with our partner, you'll sign an agreement with them directly. Brokers are usually paid a success fee at closing, so they earn money only if the deal closes.
BizQuest puts the common rate near 10% for deals of $1 million or less, often lower on bigger deals.
Our partner may pay us a referral fee for the introduction. That fee comes from them. You never pay the desk anything.
You should always know who is paid by whom. Here, the broker pays us, and you pay the broker only if your company sells.
Why a Referral Desk at All?
Most owners don't know which brokers in town actually close deals in their size range. Some brokers mostly list small shops. Others only want companies worth tens of millions.
Our job is narrow: get owners of Central Ohio companies doing roughly $1 million or more in sales in front of a broker who works in that range, quickly and privately.
Who This Is For
- Owners of established companies in Columbus and the surrounding counties
- Companies with about $1 million or more in yearly sales
- Owners thinking about selling now or in the next couple of years
We don't help buyers find companies, and we don't arrange financing. If you're a buyer, this isn't the right place.
What We Do With Your Information
We share what you send only with our broker partner, and only to answer your request. We don't sell it or pass it to buyers, and the broker won't share your company's name with anyone without your OK.
The full details are in your privacy.
Not Legal or Tax Advice
Our pages explain how sales usually work in Ohio, including the seller paperwork that comes due at closing. They are general information. Your attorney and CPA should check the details for your company.
